The all-new 2015 Honda Fit was voted a Top Safety Pick recently from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. This is among the highest honors one can receive from the safety organization, and this is big news for a brand-new redesigned model.
The Fit is all-new inside and out, with urban styling, great technology, better fuel economy and that world-class cargo space that has made this urban dweller one of the most popular vehicles on the road today.
In IIHS Tests, the Fit received a top rating of good in four tests, and it received the score of acceptable in the difficult small overlap front test. The Fit is one of two vehicles classified as “minicars” to receive a Top Safety Pick Award, with the acceptable award in small overlap front tests.
REPORT CARD: 2015 Honda Fit

Side Test: Top Score of Good
Roof Strength: Top Score of Good
Head Restraints and Seats: Top Score of Good
Small Overlap Front: Acceptable
Observations from IIHS indicate that their crash test dummies experienced a low risk of any significant injuries in moderate overlap front tests and side crash test. IIHS also noted how the dummies movement was well controlled in their stringent tests.
“Honda’s deep-rooted commitment to safety and to our customers is perhaps best demonstrated by the fact that we were not satisfied with anything but a TOP SAFETY PICK for the new 2015 Honda Fit,” said Art St. Cyr, vice president of auto operations at American Honda. “Vehicle by vehicle, our engineers are passionate about developing safety technologies that consumers have come to trust and expect from Honda.”
