The 2014 Honda Accord has been named a finalist for the Green Car of the Year Award.
The Green Car Journal nominated 5 cars for this prestigious award. This isn’t an award for future cars — it’s a list of the practical family cars on the road today that are trying to make the world greener and cleaner.
Boldride.com calls the choice of the Accord “fascinating.” Honda has always been known for making clean, green vehicles, and this year’s Accord is no different. The Accord is available with three engines — the I4, V6 and Hybrid choices. Green Car Journal isn’t nominating just one engine — the entire Accord family is up for this award.
The standard gasoline Accords get up to 36 MPG on the highway, while the Accord Hybrid reaches a top fuel economy of up to 50 MPG city. There is also an Accord plug-in option available in some states.
Honda uses new Earth Dreams technology in the 2014 Accord, which make it one of the most fuel efficient Accord models ever produced. There is even an available Eco Assist feature that tells a driver when he’s achieving his maximum fuel economy. With ECON mode on, your Accord will automatically help you achieve the highest fuel economy.
Winner of the Green Car of the Year Award will be announced at the Los Angeles Auto Show, Nov. 22 through Dec. 1. The Waikem Honda Blog will of course all the information that breaks from the show. –
