Waikem Employees raise money for CF

Waikem employees were able to raise more than $1,000 for Adam Longwell, an employee in the Motors Parts Deparment. His two year old daughter Kendall has Cystic Fibrosis.

A group lunch Thursday was more than just a lunch, as the employees of Waikem gathered to raise money and help up a fellow co-worker in need.

The luncheon was for Adam Longwell, an employee in the Waikem Motors parts department. Everyone donated money to the “Blow Away Cystic Fibrosis” campaign. Adam’s 2-year-old daughter Kendall has Cystic Fibrosis, and the money will go towards the Great Strides run Saturday, May 5 at McKinley High School.

Food was donated by Pizza Oven and KFC. Some employees made a dessert or a covered dish.

All-in-all employees were able to raise more than $1,000 for Adam’s team in hopes of one day finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.

“As an employee and parent of a child with CF, it really means so much that everyone helped out,” Adam said. “We appreciate it so much!”
